Anthony Maccioni (pronounced match-ee-own-ee) is an American, Los Angeles based engineer and mixer who has worked with multiple Grammy winning and Billboard Hot 100 artists.
His career began in 2008 when he was assisting at Maple Jam Music Group (MJMG), which was founded by the late Greg Ladanyi; a Grammy Award Winning Engineer whose most notable works include Jackson Browne (Running On Empty, The Pretender), Don Henley (Building The Perfect Beast), Fleetwood Mac (Behind The Mask), Toto (Toto IV), The Church (Starfish), and Jaguares (Bajo el Azul de Tu Misterio).
During his time at Maple Jam, he had the privilege of working with many top artists including Hollywood Undead, Atreyu, Dave Stewart, Jackson Browne, Don Felder, Steve Lukather, Anna Vissi, and Taryn Manning.
In 2012, he began freelancing at many different studios around Los Angeles, working in places such as The Record Plant, Capitol Studios, Sunset Sound, United Recording, The Village, and Paramount.
In early 2015, Anthony met Clarence Jey; a Grammy Nominated, Billboard Hot 100, songwriter, record producer, and composer who was instrumental in one of the largest internet viral sensations in history, (Friday), by Rebecca Black. They became great friends and together worked with artists including Jeff Barry (Sugar Sugar, Be My Baby), Andy Kim (Baby, I Love You, Rock Me Gently), Rayvon (Shaggy), All-4-One, Katchafire, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Josef Gordon.
In 2019, Anthony began working closely, engineering and mixing for famed producer/songwriter Patrick Leonard, whose most notable works include Madonna (True Blue, Like A Prayer, Ray of Light), Roger Waters (Amused to Death), Elton John (Songs From The West Coast), and Leonard Cohen (Old Ideas, Popular Problems, You Want It Darker). In working with Patrick Leonard, Anthony also had the opportunity to learn from and engineer alongside industry greats, Bill Bottrell (Michael Jackson, Sheryl Crow, Toy Matinee, ELO) and Michael Verdick (Eagles, Al Jarreau, Larry Carlton).
In 2023, Anthony was invited to contribute to It All Comes Down to Mood, Patrick Leonard’s first solo album in over two decades. This 16-track double album, a bold blend of musical and lyrical creativity, is best characterized as an adventurous “art-pop” creation that highlights Leonard’s artistic brilliance. Anthony worked closely with both Patrick and Kevin Killen, whose distinguished engineering credits include collaborations with artists such as Peter Gabriel, U2, and David Bowie. The album also features an all-star lineup of musicians, including Tony Levin, Tim Pierce, Wendy Melvoin, John Patitucci, Aaron Stirling, Martin Barre, James Harrah, Ian Anderson, Anna Mjoll, Gerry Leonard, and Paul Franklin.
Anthony has since engineered and mixed projects for artists such as Bryan Scary (Birds), Evil Arrows, Modern Day Miracle, and Andy Kim (Sugar Sugar, Rock Me Gently). He has also written, produced, and mixed music for Netflix, E!, CNN, truTV, Lifetime, WE Tv, A&E, National Geographic, History Channel, and the Discovery Channel.
He prides himself on professionalism and tremendous focus in the studio. It’s in his undeniable passion for music and sound that he is able to help guide artists toward realizing their vision. His aim is to simply use his musical ear and technical expertise to create records that stand the test of time.
